Nobody's Perfect

But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.   Matthew 5:48 nlt

But you must always act like your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:48 cev

This is a prime example of why we can't rely on just one Bible translation. Sometimes a different text can help us make more sense of His word.

God doesn't expect us to be perfect. He knows we can never match up to Him (Romans 3:23). What He does expect is that we will strive to act like Him.

We need to show love, compassion, and kindness. We need to offer forgiveness, and be willing to share our time and our resources. We also need to continue learning from His word, so that we can become more spiritually mature.

Stop trying to achieve perfection, you can't do it.  For now, focus on personal growth. We can't be perfect, but we can be better.
